Better luck next time! Thank you to all who voted in the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. Holland garnered 334 votes for his artwork with votes from across the nation. It just wasn't enough to send him to SCOPE Miami.
Out of 1000s of entries, the judges selected Holland as one of the finalists. Between September 14-November 7th, the Online Finalists were posted on www.bombayartisan.com where you could have voted daily for your favorite entries based on Judging Criteria. At Studio Holland, we recommended CN3. See reasons for voting for Holland listed below. |
At Studio Holland, we recommended CN3. Here’s why:
(i) Line; the quality use of line in "CN3" is apparent & excellent.
(ii) Composition; the one-point perspective creates a deep field of space. "I focus on parts while others are ethereal. The composition is congruent with the physiology of human vision.” – Artist BH
(iii) Creativity & Uniqueness; space, media, materials, imagery - everything is visually expanding on the concepts of realism in painting & drawing. The image is intentionally large to create a new field of vision.
(iv) Execution of Medium & Difficulty of Process; For five (5) years I’ve researched how to make multi-dimensional works. “CN3” was drawn on four (4) layers of special plastics to achieve physical and perceived-depth. It was drawn from observation and took six (6) months to complete.
(v) Original Work. Humans strive to find a guide we can reference in life. It’s what gives us purpose. In pieces like “CN3”, I explore new dimensions by visually mapping my relationship with my surroundings. This creates a field for viewers to get involved in my creative process and to consider where they are on their personal adventure. In this way, the viewer and I are connected through the pre-historic tradition – drawing with the purpose of depicting one’s physical or emotional settings.
